I identify with Eve, surrounded by the abundant blessings of God, yet still feeling a hunger for “more.” Contentment with what I have often clashes with a longing for what I don’t. My attention is drawn toward things that are "a delight to the eyes."

What a beautiful post. 🥰 The topic of contentment was preached at church on Sunday and reading this again, I continue to ponder this. There are things I desire and distractions aplenty, but gauging my heart condition is paramount. Sometimes simplicity is what the season brings. Sometimes God blesses lavishly. Am I content with either? In my desire for more, am I still content with what I have? Am I pursuing more of God and allowing Him to bless me as He wishes, or am I pursuing blessings and more things that pull my heart away from God? Lord, show me if there are any ugly heart motives in me that cause me to not be content with You alone. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
I totally agree! Thank you so much for sharing, I never thought about the serpent really getting in her head before he made that final sentence that changed everything. This helps me paint more descriptive story that helps. It makes sense to me.
I wrote this several weeks ago and as I read it again today, it is still something God is working in my heart…
to be satisfied with what He provides, in simplicity and goodness.
simple & healthy food
simple spending
enough sleep and not over sleeping
I’d love to hear what this blog stirs in you. It might be something totally different!
